Summary Information:
The Katherine River forms a series of magnificent gorges, just east of the town of Katherine, 350 kilometres south of Darwin. These gorges and the surrounding landscape have great ceremonial significance to the local Jawoyn people, who are custodians of Nitmiluk National Park that has been established around the gorges and nearby Edith Falls.
