|Summary Information: |
|Tjutjunaka Worka Tjuta (TWT) was established in 1989 for the purpose of developing the employment and training prospects of the Aboriginal community in Ceduna. It is Ceduna's central Aboriginal agency and provides Community Development Employment Program (CDEP) activities. Just under 180 people are employed in this way. The object of TWT CDEP activities is to offer work places which encourage confidence and skill development and ultimately lead to part or full time employment. |
TWT is also involved in eight Homeland Projects. These projects aim to provide participants with work skills in the areas of landcare, marketing and industry. It is the goal of each project to eventually be able to fund itself.
TWT also addresses issues such as juvenile crime. It coordinates programs such as the Bush Breakaway Youth Action Program which works with young offenders and potential offenders in the 10 to 13 year old age group. It has also established a family support group as a part of this program.
